Lisa Beamer, the widow of the Flight 93 hero Todd Beamer, and the 177th Fighter Wing’s commander at the time, Col. Mike Cosby, unveil an F-16C Fighting Falcon with “Let’s Roll,” nose art on March 25, 2002. The motto “Spirit of 9-11” superimposed on a sword, an American eagle, and a U.S. flag are also part of the nose art.
The 177th Fighter Wing was one of the first Air National Guard units in the air in response to the attacks on September 11, 2001, and has deployed hundreds of airmen over the past thirteen years in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom.
